What's the Rule? author, Kathy Sole, is the owner of WriteSource, a company that specializes in writing and editing business, government, and academic documents. Kathy has worked as an independent contractor and as an editorial consultant to numerous businesses, nonprofit organizations, and public entities, helping them improve their internal documentation and customer correspondence. She also performs copy editing, substantive/structural editing, and format editing of academic work such as doctoral proposals and dissertations, theses, scholarly manuscripts, and conference presentations.

Kathy is available to consult at project inception to help you develop a document strategy, select a logical organizational scheme, and make critical decisions regarding editorial requirements and project scheduling. She can conduct independent project research and draft materials for your approval, or she can team with your staff and collaborate with subject matter experts to develop high-quality management, operational, and technical documents. She can also perform document editing and proofreading to ensure a professional-quality final product. WriteSource has the latest computer, communications, and Internet capabilities. We work on a contract basis at your site or off-premises, where we can communicate with you by telephone, fax, modem, or Internet. To ensure compatibility with your existing systems, we can produce output in hard copy or on disk or CD in a wide range of text and graphic formats. Our fees can be arranged on an hourly basis, or we can develop a lump-sum proposal for a specific project. Kathy also performs comprehensive copy editing, substantive or structural editing, and format editing of academic work such as doctoral proposals and dissertations, theses, scholarly manuscripts, and conference presentations. In addition to her thorough knowledge of the rules of English punctuation and grammar, Kathy has extensive knowledge of academic research requirements, writing and publishing conventions, and structural and copy editing procedures.
